CGS ORIS Expands the Boundaries of Color at the FTA Fall Conference

CGS ORIS at FTA Fall Conference

(Dec 19, 2017) – This year’s FTA Fall Conference (October 29 – 31) travels to Cleveland, OH, home to the world-renowned Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. World leader in color management, CGS ORIS, will be both speaking as well as exhibiting at a table top during the event. The FTA Fall Conference brings together brand owners, suppliers and printers alike to address the latest flexographic industry trends and challenges. Major trends to be discussed during the event are expanded gamut printing and CxF data utilization.

During Labelexpo 2018 and PRINT 18, CGS ORIS announced the addition of X GAMUT to its already impressive color management portfolio. With a robust set of expanded gamut profiling tools, end users will increase efficiency while achieving accurate Spot Color reproduction. This creates a unique opportunity for digital press technology utilizing expanded gamut ink sets in the packaging market. Using CGS ORIS color management technology, there are no limitations in your color workflow. Also highlighted at the table top exhibit will be the award-winning packaging trio: CXF TOOLS, iC3D and FLEX PACK. CXF TOOLS is of particular interest for those looking to improve brand color communication along the entire supply chain and to set color expectations.

New Product Highlights

X GAMUT is CGS ORIS’ new color management solution for expanded gamut printing, on traditional offset and flexo as well as digital technology offerings. The software creates the highest-quality Expanded Gamut Profiles optimized for rendering RGB and CMYK + 4 separations to achieve high quality, vivid and saturated colors while maintaining accurate spot color recreation.

“This is a game-changer for users frustrated with traditional Spot Color printing processes because of the costly set-up and long downtimes between flexo and offset press runs,” explains Kyle Hargrove, Digital Technologies product manager. Before, it could be challenging and time-consuming for operators to achieve accurate and repeatable color reproduction due to the limited CMYK gamut of a press. “Now, with Expanded Gamut, users can manage color on the latest Expanded Gamut Digital presses and standardize up to 8 separations (CMYK + 4). This makes it possible to match spot colors without having to change ink sets on traditional presses or to easily create best in class expanded gamut separations to leverage on digital presses. Ultimately saving CGS ORIS customers time and money. What’s more, it gives users even more opportunities to gang jobs, so productivity has the potential to sky-rocket,” comments Hargrove.

“I Walk the Line” of Quality Compliance

During the three-day conference, join CGS ORIS’ David Palmieri, Director of Strategic Accounts and Business Alliances, for his talk track on how the implementation of CxF can be a valuable quality control measure and a strategic method to accurately communicating color information along the entire supply chain. Although flexographic technologies continue to advance in automated quality control capabilities, users still experience common quality control issues. Learn about the digital inspection of graphics to a standard using an automated QC tool and how this can be integrated into a production environment; setting supply chain color expectations from design to print and how CxF can be of value to aid in defect detection during the flexographic print process, and how the use of roll mapping can help to eliminate defects from material delivered to the customer.
